Collaborative Education

Partnering with Parents for a Rich Educational Experience.

“The most important Christian Education institution is not the pulpit or the school, important as those institutions are; but it is the Christian family.”

~ John Gresham Machen

What is Collaborative Education?

Collaborative education uniquely combines private Christian education and homeschooling. Creed Classical provides professional instruction two days weekly, while parents guide learning at home with structured plans, creating flexibility for family schedules and individual student needs.

Weekly Schedule

  • Monday: Flexible day (varies by grade)
  • Tuesday: On-campus classes
  • Wednesday: At-home instruction
  • Thursday: On-campus classes
  • Friday: At-home instruction

Benefits of Collaborative Schooling

Collaborative education allows parents significant involvement in their child’s learning without the full burden of curriculum planning. It offers family flexibility, personalized instruction, and professional classroom guidance, making education a fulfilling experience for students and parents alike.

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Deuteronomy 6:7

“The most important Christian Education institution is not the pulpit or the school, important as those institutions are; but it is the Christian family.”

~ John Gresham Machen

A collaborative education allows for a unique partnership between the parents and Creed Classical classroom teachers; it seeks to combine the best elements of a private Christian education and homeschooling.

Creed Classical provides a comprehensive curriculum. Students will attend an on-campus school two days a week in a classroom setting with professional, qualified teachers. This is a full school day with the full range of subjects. Parents, “Co-Teachers”, are sent weekly lesson plans to be followed at home with their student on the alternate days of the week. In primer and lower grammar schools (Kinder through 4th grade), Mondays are a flex day – a day for catching up on assignments, attending enrichment activities, or simply spending time with family. For upper grammar, logic, and rhetoric schools (5th grade and up), Mondays are used as flex days and for potential additional coursework at home.

Weekly Schedule

  • Monday: activities vary by grade level
  • Tuesday: on-campus day
  • Wednesday: at-home day
  • Thursday: on-campus day
  • Friday: at-home day

On-Campus Days and At-Home Days

Students are on campus two days per week. However, Creed Classical is not a “part-time” schooling option since collaborative schooling consists of four to five days per week (some days on campus and the other days at home). At-home, Parents (co-teachers) share responsibility for instruction with the professional, on-campus teacher who provides classroom instruction and take-home assignments (parents do not need prior teaching experience). While Creed Classical makes core curriculum choices, families can supplement as often and as much as desired. This arrangement gives parents more time to enjoy and train their children, yet also provides freedom from choosing/planning curriculum and always being “on” as teacher. Flexibility in family schedules, allowing a range of other activities to supplement on-campus activities, is another great benefit. The learning schedule during at-home days can be adapted to a student’s particular learning style.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
